Vicky Kaushal opens up on why he agreed to do a cameo in Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki
He revealed in an interview that he actively pursued the role to reunite with Hirani after their collaboration on Sanju. Kaushal said he contacted Hirani directly to express his interest. He even stated his willingness to play a minor role. His father, who worked on the film's action sequences, learned about the character requiring a fire scene. When his father inquired about the actor for the role, Hirani mentioned someone like Vicky but didn't approach him due to the limited screen time. Upon hearing this, Kaushal immediately contacted Hirani and secured the part without even reading the script. He also praised the film's portrayal of Punjab, highlighting its vibrant and colorful depiction compared to the usual gritty portrayal of the state in films.
